JACK STAND AND SUPPORT
Jack stand and support are devices designed to support your vehicle's weight when lifted. Although car jacks do the heavy lifting, you'll still need to steady the car on jack stands if you need to go underneath the vehicle. You should never crawl under a car that is only held up with a jack. Jack support also give you a helping hand particularly when working with suspension and exhaust systems. Use them to hold up a rear end while changing shocks or to support an engine while taking the transmission out.
HOW TO USE A jack stand/ support
Before jacking up your car, you must take safety measures to secure it. First and foremost, never use the jack to hold the car in place while you are under it. Use only jack stands that are properly rated for the weight of your vehicle.
Place the jack stand under the car frame at reinforced point or "pinch weld" near where the jack is placed. Pin-type jack stands use locking pins to adjust the height, while screw-type jack stands use adjustable screws.
